MR. 1000
Tonight, the Jets and their fans will celebrate Blake Wheeler's 1000th game as they take on the Toronto Maple Leafs. Wheeler spoke yesterday to the media about the milestone and the fact that his parents, wife and three children will be in attendance. The Jets captain is the franchise's all-time leader in assists, points and shots on goal and has been the driving force behind the club's success over the previous four seasons where they have qualified for Stanley Cup playoffs. He's been durable, a leader and one of the best passers in the NHL for most of his NHL career. He is coming off a season high three assist game and the top line of Wheeler, Mark Scheifele and Kyle Connor are really starting to click.

CONTINUE GOING TO THE NET
The Jets were finally rewarded for going to the net and shooting the puck on Friday. But there is a caution where they can't have three players down low against the Maple Leafs because of how quickly Toronto can transition from defence to offence.
"Our net front presence was much better in that (the New Jersey game) but it also at times cost us defensively," said Paul Maurice today.
"We got in behind it too much, they knocked things down. That'll be dangerous here (tonight)."

SECOND LINE CHEMISTRY
As nice as it was to see Scheifele, Wheeler and Connor produce, Paul Maurice must have been glad to see some offence from his second line of Pierre-Luc Dubois, Nikolaj Ehlers and Andrew Copp. Dubois has worked well with Connor but to see him and his new line mates find the net is a good sign. The Jets will need offence from other places outside of their top line. Dubois set up Ehlers twice on Friday and Copp recorded his 100th career assist as well.
QUICK STARTS
Winnipeg is 7-2-2 when scoring first in a game this season. The Jets scored first on Friday for the first time in five games. The Jets have scored 24 of their 67 goals this season in the first five minutes of a period, including three in the opening minute.
LEAFS ROLLING
Toronto comes to Winnipeg tonight having won 15 of their last 18 games after losing 4-3 in a shootout in St. Paul last night. The Leafs were down 3-0 in the second period to the Wild but fought back to tie it at three before dropping a point in the shootout. Toronto will be without Mitch Marner but the usual customers Auston Matthews, William Nylander and John Tavares will make it a challenging night for the Jets defencemen and Connor Hellebucyk.
