Scott Wedgewood made 28 saves, and Brock Nelson added a late goal to a second period assist as the Colorado Avalanche defeated the Islanders 4-1, before a sellout crowd of 18,109 at Ball Arena.
Emil Heineman opened the scoring for the third straight game (tying a franchise record), but the Isles were blanked for the last 57:55 as they scored only one goal for the first time this season.
The loss ends a four-game Islander win streak, and a five-game road win streak as the Isles fell to 6-2-1 in their last nine games. The team heads to Dallas for their fourth game in six nights on Tuesday.

Emil Heineman, playing on his 24th birthday, scored the opening goal for the 3rd straight game. He joins Kyle Palmieri (2/1/25 vs Tampa Bay) and Casey Cizikas (2/27/22 at Anaheim) as active players who have scored for the Isles on their birthday.
Heineman also joins John Tonelli (1/11-15/1983) and Ray Ferraro (1/9-13/1991) as the only Isles to score the opening goal in three straight games; Heineman is the only one to do so in three consecutive games, with all games played on the road.
