Beauvillier scores in OT, Isles beat Rangers

---- Ryan Pulock certainly looks to have picked up where he left off at the end of last season, scoring a pair of goals on Wednesday night, his third and fourth goals of the preseason.
Pulock's goals came in typical fashion, as the defenseman unleashed a pair of rockets from the point on both of his goals. The 23-year-old opened the scoring with a seeing-eye slapper around a Tom Kuhnhackl screen in front to make it 1-0 at 5:53 of the first. He powered his second of the night past Henrik Lundqvist at 14:05 of the middle frame, uncorking a one-timer on an Isles power play to tie the game 2-2.
"World-class player, world-class shot," Lehner said of Pulock. "Seeing not necessarily how hard his shot is, but where he places them. Hard five-hole and right over the pad are some of the hardest shots to save in traffic. He knows where to put them."

NYI@NYR: Pulock blasts slap shot past Lundqvist

Pulock nearly had a third on Wednesday, getting a clear shooting lane and some space with just over 40 seconds to go, but was denied by Lundqvist, who was knocked back a little on the play.
With Wednesday's two-goal effort, Pulock has goals in three straight games and four total in four preseason games. He's looking to build off a breakout 10-goal campaign from a year ago and seems to have found his scoring touch so far in preseason.
"I think my game is where I want it to be," Pulock said. "Obviously I'm going to continue to work to get better, but at this point in the preseason I feel really good and I'm looking forward to starting the season."

NYI@NYR: Pulock pots second goal with another blast

---- The Islanders were forced to be a little resilient on Wednesday. After Pulock put the Isles ahead 1-0, the Rangers responded with two goals and the Isles didn't lead again until the final horn.
Pulock responded for the Isles after a Buchnevich power-play goal late in the first and a Zibanejad cleanup effort made it 2-1 Rangers early in the second. The Isles only needed 24 seconds to answer when the Rangers went up 3-2 early in the third. It was a thing of beauty, as Mathew Barzal wheeled through the neutral zone - causing two Rangers to collide - before dropping a pass to Josh Bailey who set up a pinching Thomas Hickey to make it 3-3.

NYI@NYR: Hickey finishes off nice passing play

Beauvillier sealed the deal in overtime, beating Lundqvist with a wrister off the rush, following up on a nice two-goal night in Bridgeport on Saturday.
"I thought we played pretty well," Head Coach Barry Trotz said. "Especially with a new team and new group they really are sponges. They've been fantastic. They've been listening and doing the right things. We talked about doing three-on-threes and they executed them. They did a lot of good things tonight."
