The 2008-09 New York Islanders would be almost unrecognizable today.
Those Islanders wore navy blue sweaters with orange arm bands and a classic Islanders logo, featuring three stripes on the stick. Home games were played at Nassau Veterans Memorial Coliseum and practices were at Islanders Iceworks in Syosset.
It was four years before the club announced a move to Barclays Center, seven years before the first puck dropped for a regular season game in Brooklyn and 11 years before shovels hit the dirt at Belmont Park.

One hundred eighty players have suited up in 10 jerseys at three home arenas since the summer of 2008. Only one has seen them all.
"It's definitely changed a lot," said Josh Bailey, drafted in summer of 2008. "I think the one constant that's always been here is a good locker room. I've been proud to be a part of that."
The other constant, of course, is Bailey, who will play his 1,000th NHL game - all with the Islanders - on Friday night in Raleigh. Bailey will become just the third player in franchise history to play 1,000 games with the club, joining legends Denis Potvin (1,060) and Bryan Trottier (1,123).
