Casey Cizikas and Alan Quine, who both missed a majority of the Islanders' recent road trip, were both on the ice for Monday's morning skate.
Cizikas has missed eight straight games sustaining the injury on Feb. 21 in Detroit, while Quine has missed six straight games with his injury, last playing on Feb. 25 in Columbus.
Interim Head Coach Doug Weight said Cizikas and Quine won't play on Monday against Carolina, but he considers the forwards day-to-day.
"It's obviously great to see Casey and Quiner out there today," Weight said. "Casey is close and so is Alan, but they can't go tonight. I think they're going to come on the trip and we're going to keep it day-to-day. Both are close and I'd love to have two or three fresh bodies in tomorrow night, but at the same time you can't risk losing them for a longer period of time."
