The New York Islanders take on the Vancouver Canucks on Saturday night at Rogers Arena at 10 p.m. et. Watch on MSG+, MSG GO, or NHL.TV. Listen live on 88.7FM WRHU, 103.9FM LI News or online at radio.com/islanders. Read the game preview. Check the game notes.

One line that's staying intact is the Anders Lee-Brock Nelson-Jordan Eberle trio, who have combined for nine points (5G, 4A) over the past three games.
"They've sort of been in a little bit of a groove, they've been one of the lines producing for us," Trotz said. "They're all contributing. Leesy who is a real strong person in all those low areas, Ebs is real creative and nifty and Nelly is sort of that compliment who has that shot and can make plays."

HOMECOMING FOR TOEWS:

The last time Devon Toews skated at Rogers Arena, he figures he was about seven years old, playing during one of the intermissions. The building was still called GM Place back then.
When he takes the ice on Saturday night, he'll be doing it as an NHL defenseman, skating in front of family and friends in what'll be a special homecoming for the Abbotsford BC native.
"It'll be a lot of fun," Toews said. "Just playing out east for so long, a lot of my family and friends haven't been able to see my play in person. Just the fact that they get to see me as a legitimate figure and not just on TV is pretty cool."
Expect to see a strong Toews contingent on Saturday night. His dad, Werner, has seven brothers and sisters, so a lot of extended family is expected to be in the stands, along with friends, former teammates and coaches from his minor hockey days."
Toews returns to BC on a roll as well, with five assists in his last four games. The rookie defenseman has 11 points (4G, 7A) in 26 games this season and has made himself a key part of the blue line. The Islanders are 18-5-3 with Toews in the lineup.
"Toews has done a really good job," Trotz said. "His biggest asset is his skating ability, he moves the puck very efficiently and his defending skills has gotten better and better and his confidence has really grown. Our record with him in the lineup has been really good. He's a good, young talent that we have on the blue line. I think our blue line is fairly deep."
Mathew Barzal was in Toews' shoes last season, as the Coquitlam, BC, native played his first game in his hometown.
"It's always fun to come back home and obviously last year was the first time so it was pretty special," Barzal said. Seeing people at morning skate come out and lots of local fans, for Ladder as well and Toewsy, it's a cool night for myself. Just having family and friends out is always exciting. At the end of the day, I'm playing a hockey game and playing for the Islanders and trying to get a win."

BARZAL ON PETTERSSON:

Elias Pettersson has taken Vancouver by storm this season, as the rookie leads the Canucks in goals (26), assists (28) and points (54).
"I'm just playing my game, a creative game and just try to create a lot of chances both for myself and for my teammates," Pettersson said.
He's the favorite to win the Calder Trophy and that's a position Mathew Barzal can relate to, as he burst onto the scene last year.
"I just imagine how much adrenaline he's playing on being in his rookie season and playing in front of 17-18,000 fans a night, every game, it's just crazy when you're in that moment," Barzal said. "Obviously a pretty special player and Vancouver is lucky to have him."

BEAGLE AND TROTZ:

Barry Trotz and Jay Beagle had a chance to reconnect on Saturday, as the former Washington Capitals coach and player had a moment at morning skate.
Trotz heaped praise on Beagle, calling him one of the best pros he's ever coached and said the Isles were interested in signing him during the offseason.
"With a young team you're looking for quality people and when it comes to quality people, Jay Beagle is that," Trotz said. "He drives practice, helps younger players. He's fantastic on the draw. He gives you everything, as a pro, as a person. Really good signing for Vancouver. I was jealous when they signed him because we were trying to do the same thing."
Beagle said the Islanders coach was a top-shelf person, beyond being one of the game's top coaches.
"Trotz texted me on my 500th game which was pretty nice, he didn't have to do that, that was pretty special. It was nice to see them again," Beagle said. "He's a great guy. He's someone that is easy to talk to. Very personable like you said, so that makes it easy to go to him with anything and his door is always open, you can go in and talk to him."
