As the New York Islanders march towards a new arena at Belmont, co-owner Jon Ledecky was literally at the front of the line.
Ledecky was one of the grand marshals at the Belmont Stakes Parade on Saturday, leading over 1,000 marchers through Elmont while greeting and shaking hands with members of the community.
"Thank you so much for the privilege of becoming part of your community," Ledecky said to the crowd in Elmont. "It is an honor for the New York Islanders to be coming to Elmont. We love your community, we respect your community and we want to be a vaunted and important part of your community."

The Islanders won a bid to develop an arena at Belmont Park in December. The 18,000 seat arena is the centerpiece of a proposed $1B development that includes a 193,000 sq. ft. hotel, 435,000 sq. ft. of retail, dining and entertainment space and 10,000 sq. ft. of offices and parking.
