Semyon Varlamov did some on-ice work after the New York Islanders practice at FLA Live Arena on Friday afternoon.
Varlamov, who has been sidelined with a nagging issue since the start of training camp took the ice towards the end of the team's practice and took some shots. Head Coach Barry Trotz said there was still no clear timetable for Varlamov's return, as the team wants to ensure its starting goaltender is 100%.

"He was on the ice today taking shots and he's been taking some shots the past few days," Trotz said. "Our timetable is no timetable. It's when he's 100%, we're not going to settle for 98, or 97, we're going to make sure it's 100% comfortable. Then we'll get him totally ramped up to where we're comfortable to throw him in a game. He's making good progress, he looks fineā€¦ Right now he's still in that controlled stage and it's leaning to getting to that chaotic stage and that holistic stage where he can do different things, we can do different things and make it more game like."
Varlamov was 19-11-4 last season with a 2.04GAA, a .929SV% and a career-high seven shutouts. Ilya Sorokin and Cory Schneider are the Islanders goaltending duo with Varlamov out.
