Two Split

The New York Islanders got good news on the injury front on Monday, as both Mathew Barzal (DTD, lower body) and Simon Holmstrom (IR, lower body) joined the team for practice at Northwell Health Ice Center.
Barzal was a late scratch on Friday night in Calgary, taking warmups, but ultimately missing the Islanders' 4-1 loss to the Flames. Barzal leads the Islanders with 41 points (11G, 30A) and had a career-long five-game goal streak heading into the game. Head Coach Lane Lambert did not have an immediate update on Barzal after practice, but said he was hopeful that Barzal could play on Tuesday night against Dallas.

Holmstrom has been out since suffering an injury on Dec. 23 against the Florida Panthers. The Swedish rookie had skated on his own during the Islanders western road trip. Holmstrom has two points (1G, 1A) in 14 games this season.
"I thought he looked good," Lambert said. "He's been skating and today was a day when we could integrate him into the group and see where he went from there."
Kyle Palmieri (IR, upper body) was also a participant in Monday's practice. The winger, who has missed 20 of the Islanders last 21 games, skated with the team during their Western Conference trip.
Adam Pelech and Oliver Wahlstrom did not skate with the team on Monday. Pelech did skate on his own for a third day, per Lambert, while Wahlstrom has not skated yet.
