The New York Islanders announced today that the club has signed forward Matt Luff to a one-year, two-way (NHL/AHL) contract.
Luff, 29, hails from Oakville, Ontario, and spent last season with the St. Louis Blues and their American Hockey League affiliate, the Springfield Thunderbirds, before being acquired by the Islanders in a trade. After joining the club's AHL affiliate, the Bridgeport Islanders, Luff recorded four goals and nine assists for 13 points in 20 regular-season games. He added one goal and one assist in two Calder Cup Playoff contests.
Luff was named an AHL All-Star during the 2025-26 season for the Atlantic Division. During the 2024-25 campaign, he ranked third on Springfield in scoring, recording 18 goals and 27 assists for 45 points in 50 games.
The 6-foot-3, 225-pound forward has appeared in 111 NHL games with the Los Angeles Kings, Nashville Predators, Detroit Red Wings and St. Louis Blues, totaling 16 goals and 12 assists for 28 points. Over 10 AHL seasons, Luff has played in 341 career games, registering 105 goals and 159 assists for 264 points.
