Here are this week's updates on the Islanders prospects:

JEFFERIES SCORES FOURTH OF THE SEASON

Alex Jefferies scored the fourth goal of his freshman season for Merrimack College over the weekend in their series against Boston College.
Jefferies lit the lamp in Merrimack's 5-3 loss to BC on Jan. 17, as Boston College completed the weekend sweep with the win.
Through seven games this season, the Islanders' 2020 draftee (fourth round 121st overall) now leads Merrimack in scoring with four goals and six points. Merrimack and Jefferies are ranked 11th overall in Hockey East with record of 1-7-0.


COCKERILL DOUBLES UP SCORING

While having only played three games so far during his COVID-shortened senior season with Boston University, Logan Cockerill is making up for lost time. The Islanders' 2017 seventh-round draftee (201st overall) scored twice in BU's 4-2 win over University of Massachusetts on Jan. 17.
Cockerill, who is wearing the 'C' this season, scored his first goal midway through the second period to even the score 2-2. Cockerill's second goal of the game was also his second shorthanded goal of the season scored late in the third period as the 4-2 insurance goal.
Through three games, Cockerill has four goals through three games. Cockerill and BU are ranked ninth overall in Hockey East 2-1-0 record.


RAJANIEMI LIGHTS THE LAMP IN RETURN

Matias Rajaniemi scored his first goal of the season with the Pelicans in Liiga, after having to miss a few games to quarantine following he and Team Finland's bronze-medal finish at WJC.
The Islanders' 2020 sixth rounder (183rd overall) scored in the Pelicans 5-0 over Sport on Jan. 14. The defenseman also posted a primary assist on Jan. 16 in the Pelicans' 6-3 win over Jokerit.
Through 20 games this season, Rajaniemi has recorded four points (1G, 3A). The Pelicans and Rajaniemi are third overall in Liiga with 13-7-5 record .


LJUNGKRANTZ SCORES FIRST GOAL WITH STROMSBRO

Alexander Ljungkrantz scored his first goal of the season with Stromsbro IF of Hockeyettan, the third-division of Swedish professional hockey. Ljungkrantz was loaned to Stromsbro on Jan. 4.
The Islanders' 2020 third rounder (90th overall) scored his first goal and posted a two-point game with a primary assist as well in Stromsbro's 5-3 win over Sollentuna HC on Jan. 15. Ljungkrantz now has three points (1G, 2A) through four games.


GOLYSHEV FIRES OFF TWELFTH GOAL OF THE SEASON

Over in the KHL, Anatoly Golyshev deposited his 12th goal of the season with Avtombolist in their 4-1 win over Avangard on Jan. 17.
The Islanders' 2016 fourth rounder (95th overall) now has 26 points (12G, 14A) through 41 games with Avtombolist this season. Golyshev and Avtombolist sit in ninth place overall in KHL with a record 21-19-5.


DUFOUR, QMJHL RETURN TO ACTION ON JAN. 22

William Dufour of the Drummondville Voltigeurs in the Quebec Major Junior Hockey League (QMJHL) will resume play after taking a two-month pause out of precaution for abiding to COVID-19 restrictions.
Dufour and Drummondville are scheduled to resume their season on Friday, Jan. 22 against Val-d'Or with a puck drop time of 7 p.m.
Through the eight games that Dufour and Drummondville have played so far this season, the Islanders 2020' fifth rounder (152nd overall) has found the back of the net six times and posted 10 points.
