The Islanders wrap up their preseason in Washington

The New York Islanders wrap up their preseason on Sunday night, as they take on the Washington Capitals at Verizon Center (5 p.m., MSG+). 

John Tavares is making his preseason debut on Sunday, skating with the Islanders for the first time after winning the World Cup of Hockey. Tavares will skate with Andrew Ladd and PA Parenteau, a preview of the top line heading into the season. 

Jaroslav Halak is also in the lineup for the first time this preseason, as he went the distance in the World Cup, playing all the way to the final. 

Anthony Beauvillier and Mathew Barzal are also in Sunday's lineup, getting another look before the Islanders have to cut down their roster to 23. 

Alex Ovechkin, Nicklas Backstrom and Braden Holtby are all playing on Sunday for the Capitals.
