SENATORS NOTES:
  • It's been a trying season for the Ottawa Senators, who are currently last in the NHL with 51 points. The last few weeks have been especially tough for the Sens, who traded their top-two scorers, as well as underwent a coaching change. The team is 2-8-0 in their last 10 games, recently busting a seven-game losing streak against the Florida Panthers.
    - The Senators fired Guy Boucher and named Marc Crawford Interim Head Coach on March 1. Boucher was 95-109-26 in three seasons as the Senators coach, leading the team to the Eastern Conference Finals in 2016-17. Crawford has coached 1153 NHL games since 1994-95 with Quebec/Colorado, Vancouver, LA and Dallas, as well as the ZSC Lions in the Swiss League.
    - The Senators traded forwards, and pending free agents, Matt Duchene, Ryan Dzingel and Mark Stone ahead of the NHL Trade Deadline on Feb. 25. Duchene and Dzingel were dealt to Columbus in separate moves, while Stone was traded to Vegas.
Stone (62 points) and Duchene (58 points) are still first and second in Senators scoring, while Dzingel (44 points) is fourth.
    - Defenseman Thomas Chabot has been a bright spot for the Senators this season, with 47 points (13G, 34A) in 58 games.
    - Brady Tkachuk, the fourth-overall pick in June's draft, has been another. Tkachuk, son of former NHLer Keith Tkachuk has 32 points (14G, 18A) in 55 games in his rookie year.
