RALEIGH, N.C. - Eric Tulsky, General Manager of the National Hockey League’s Carolina Hurricanes, today announced that the team has signed goaltender Cayden Primeau to a two-year contract and forwards Skyler Brind’Amour and Justin Robidas to one-year, two-way contracts. Primeau will be paid $850,000 for the 2026-27 season and $975,000 for the 2027-28 season. Brind’Amour will be paid $850,000 on the NHL level or $125,000 on the American Hockey League (AHL) level with a guarantee of at least $225,000. Robidas will be paid $850,000 on the NHL level or $100,000 on the American Hockey League (AHL) level with a guarantee of at least $125,000.
About Justin Robidas:
- The 23-year-old forward has registered three points (1g, 2a) in four career NHL games with the Hurricanes.
- He notched his first career NHL point with an assist in his debut on Apr. 4, 2025, at Detroit and scored his first goal the following night at Boston.
- The 5’8”, 176-pound forward posted 60 points (23g, 37a) in 58 regular-season games with Chicago in 2025-26 to rank second on the team in goals, assists and points. He also led the club in plus/minus rating (+20), shorthanded goals (2) and shots on goal (191).
- Robidas played in the 2026 AHL All-Star Game.
- He added seven goals and nine assists (16 points) in 21 playoff appearances to help the Wolves reach the 2026 Calder Cup Final.
- Robidas spent the 2023-24 season with the ECHL’s Norfolk Admirals, totaling 27 points (12g, 15a) in 32 games played.
- Prior to turning professional, the Plano, Texas native tallied 239 points (95g, 144a) in 223 career QMJHL games with Val-d’Or and Quebec, helping the Quebec Remparts capture the QMJHL Championship and Memorial Cup Championship in 2022-23.
- Justin’s father, Stephane, played 15 NHL seasons with Montreal, Dallas, Chicago, Anaheim and Toronto from 1999-2015.
- Robidas was selected by the Hurricanes in the fifth round, 147th overall, of the 2021 NHL Draft.
About Skyler Brind’Amour:
- The 27-year-old has recorded one goal in six NHL games with the Hurricanes.
- He made his NHL debut for the Hurricanes on April 16, 2025, at Montreal and netted his first NHL goal the following night against the Ottawa Senators.
- Brind’Amour registered 34 points (16g, 18a) in 68 games with the Wolves in 2025-26 and ranked tied for fourth on the club in power-play goals with four.
- The Raleigh native played his first professional season with the Charlotte Checkers in 2023-24, and has totaled 66 points (35g, 31a) in 190 career AHL contests.
- Brind’Amour spent four seasons with Quinnipiac University from 2019-23, totaling 76 points (23g, 53a) with 84 penalty minutes and a plus-43 plus/minus rating in 145 career NCAA games.
- The 6’2”, 195-pound forward helped Quinnipiac win the NCAA Championship in 2022-23 and was named the Eastern College Athletic Conference (ECAC) Best Defensive Forward and to the ECAC Third All-Star Team with 32 points (14g, 18a) in 41 games.
- He was originally selected by the Edmonton Oilers in the sixth round, 177th overall, of the 2017 NHL Draft, and is the son of Hurricanes Head Coach Rod Brind’Amour.
About Cayden Primeau:
- The 27-year-old netminder, who is the son of former Hurricanes captain Keith Primeau, posted a 21-11-7 record with a 2.41 goals-against average, .916 save percentage in 39 regular-season games with the Wolves in 2025-26. He also recorded four shutouts and one assist.
- Primeau went 9-9-0 with a 2.72 GAA, .913 SV% and added an assist in 18 playoff games to help Chicago reach the Calder Cup Final.
- He started the 2025-26 season with the Toronto Maple Leafs after being claimed off waivers from the Hurricanes on Oct. 6 and went 2-1-0 with a 4.30 GAA in three games.
- The Hurricanes originally acquired Primeau from the Montreal Canadiens on June 30, in exchange for a seventh-round selection in the 2026 NHL Draft. Carolina later claimed the netminder off waivers from Toronto on Nov. 8.
- Primeau has appeared in 58 career NHL games with Montreal and Toronto, registering a 15-25-7 record, 3.73 GAA, .882 SV% and two shutouts.
- The Farmington Hills, Michigan native posted a 2-3-1 record, 4.70 GAA and .836 SV% in 11 games with Montreal in 2024-25.
- He has a 105-55-21 record, 2.56 GAA, .913 SV% and 17 shutouts in 188 career AHL games with Chicago and Laval.
- The 6’3”, 205-pound netminder won the 2025 Harry Holmes Memorial Award for the AHL Best Goaltending duo alongside teammate Connor Hughes.
- He was originally selected by Montreal in the seventh round, 199th overall, of the 2017 NHL Draft.
