Paul Stastny's four-point performance (2G, 2A) provided the firepower for the Vegas Golden Knights as they seized a 5-2 victory against the Los Angeles Kings on Sunday night at Staples Center.
HOW IT WENT DOWN
The Golden Knights jumped out to a 2-0 lead on consecutive goals from Reilly Smith and Max Pacioretty. The Kings got a goal back before the end of the first period and Vegas entered the second period with a one-goal lead. Stastny potted two power-play goals in 2:09 to increase the Golden Knights' edge to 4-1 in the back-half of the middle period. In the final frame, Los Angeles scored to cut the Vegas lead to 4-2, but a quick answer from Mark Stone rebuilt the three-goal advantage for the visitors. Marc-Andre Fleury shut the door as he helped Vegas lock down the 5-2 win.
