2. CRUISING ALTITUDE
The Jets are in the midst of a four-game homestand and are coming off a 1-0 loss to St. Louis on Thursday - it's the first time they have been shut out at home since the 2016-17 season, and in each of the last three times Winnipeg has been shut out, they have responded with a win, outscoring their opponent, 14-3... Winnipeg also failed to score on the power play in their last outing - they have posted a power-play goal in 21 of 28 games this season and are the only NHL team this season to not go two straight games without scoring on the man advantage.
3. 'PEGGED FOR SUCCESS
The Flyers have earned points in nine of their last 10 games against the Jets, posting a 7-1-2 record, including 1-0-1 last season... Despite that record, the Jets have had a lot of success against the Flyers on home ice - they have wins in each of the last two at Bell MTS Place and four of their last six in Winnipeg... The Jets also own a 6-1-0 record against the Metropolitan Division this season... Seven of the last 10 meetings, including each of the last three, have been decided by one goal, as well as four of the last five meetings at Bell MTS Place were decided by a single goal.
4. THIS, THAT & THE OTHER
THIS: Since Nov. 21, the Flyers have not allowed a goal on the penalty kill, going a perfect 13-for-13 over their last six contests, and are also the only team in the league to not allow a power play in that time... THAT: Mark Scheifele ranks second among all NHL forwards in average ice time (22:52) - he is scoreless in his last two and has not gone three straight games without a point this season...THE OTHER:Both teams are in the Top 5 of most penalty minutes per-game on average... The Jets are the most in the NHL (11.0 per-game), while the Flyers have the fourth-most PIMs (10.0 per-game).
5. PLAYERS TO WATCH:
FLYERS (LW: #28 - Claude Giroux)
The captain has a four-game point streak, posting eight points (3g-5a), and has goals in three straight games entering today... Giroux also has 12 points (2g-10a) in his last four afternoon starts... Since the franchise moved back to Winnipeg, Giroux has 20 points (5g-15a) in 17 games and has recorded at least a point in eight of nine games at Bell MTS Place with 13 points (1g-12a) in nine games.
JETS (RW: #29 - Patrik Laine)
Laine had a streak of 13 goals in six games from Nov. 19-29, but since then has gone four straight without a tally... Despite the drought Laine is tied for 2nd in the NHL in goal-scoring with 21, but has just three assists on the season... Since coming into the league in 2016-17, Laine ranks second among all NHL players with 101 goals... Against the Flyers though, he has one goal and two points in four games.
