CALGARY, AB -- The Calgary Flames will be without the services of 18-year-old Matthew Tkachuk when they host the Dallas Stars this evening.
The rookie suffered a cut to his hand in practice yesterday which required stitches.
"Not concerning. He's going to be day-to-day," was head coach Glen Gulutzan's evaluation of Tkachuk's status. "I told you guys yesterday that he had a stitch in his hand and he's just not going to be able to play, with where the stitch is. He's going to be day-to-day."
In 12 games, Tkachuk has three goals and six points.
With forwards Kris Versteeg (groin), Lance Bouma (upper body) and Tkachuk out with injuries, the Flames recently recalled Hunter Shinkaruk and Linden Vey from the Stockton Heat. Both will be in the lineup against the Stars.
Shinkaruk, summoned on Saturday, played in Anaheim this past weekend. Tonight's game will be Vey's first game in Flames silks since signing a one-year, two-way contract with the team on Jul. 5, 2016.
