FACING THE BLUES
The last time the Flames and Blues met, Calgary snapped a six-game slide with a 7-4 victory in March. In their last 10 games against the Blues at the Scotiabank Saddledome, the Flames hold a 5-5-0 record. Last year, the Flames went 1-2-0 in their three-game season series with St. Louis. Michael Frolik led all skaters with five points (three goals, two assists) in two games against the Blues.
Tonight's game could feature four players who have spent time with both the Flames and the Blues:
Troy Brouwer signed with Calgary as a free agent in the off-season after playing in St. Louis last year. With three goals in his first five games, Brouwer is off to his hottest goalscoring start in his career.
Brian Elliott, who was acquired at the 2016 NHL Draft, spent five years with St. Louis and posted a 104-46-16 record with 25 shutouts, a 2.01 GAA and a .925 save percentage.
Dennis Wideman spent parts of two seasons with the Blues, playing in 122 games in St. Louis silks.
Blues defenceman Jay Bouwmeester played 279 consecutive games with the Flames, scoring 18 goals and 97 points in that span.
