Anaheim Ducks
Ryan Getzlaf
On failing to generating second-chance opportunities
I don't know if we did a good enough job getting in there for second and third opportunities. We directed a lot of pucks at the net, but I don't think we had any rebound opportunities until the third period.

On the Flames
They played well. That's a team that's desperate out here, I'm sure. They haven't won in our building in a long time. Every time they come in here, they play with energy. They play hard. We just had to match that tonight, and I don't think we did a good enough job.
Corey Perry
On generating chances
There were a few bounces, but it was scrambly. We had consistent zone time. Yeah, there were a lot of shots, but we weren't generating those second and third opportunities. It was one-and-done and we were chasing the puck back into our zone.
On the game
We weren't crisp. Our game is moving the puck, skating, getting in on the forecheck and banging bodies. We haven't really consistently done that yet. It's a work in progress.
Head Coach Randy Carlyle
On the game
If you look at the penalties, they were pretty much evened out throughout the course of the game. They score a power-play goal and that's basically the one-goal difference in the game. We had chances. We created a lot more chances in the second half of the game versus the first half of the game. That's been our Achilles heel in these last three games. We haven't had a start we could be proud of.
On Getzlaf's season debut
He's going to play himself back into game shape in a hurry if we play him 22 minutes a night. We were desperate for goals late in the game, so we used him on the point on the power play. I saw some rust in his game, specifically early, but he got a lot better as the game went on. I expect him to continue to improve.
Calgary Flames
Mike Smith
On his contributions to ending the losing streak
When you play a team that long and you're not on the winning part of it, it gets old pretty fast. I know I've been on teams where it's happened to me, so I wanted to help this team get over that hump. Tonight was a night where pucks were hitting me and we were able to get some goals. Our penalty kill was tremendous tonight.
On his performance
I'm just trying to be solid back there for this group. I've learned a lot over my career. One [thing] is just to look after what I can control. That's going to be my job for this team. Little bumps and bruises will come along with it, but I'll be all right.
Mikael Backlund
On ending the losing streak
It's a nice relief. Huge win and it's a great feeling. It wasn't pretty, but we got it done.
On Smith's performance thus far this season
He's been unbelievable so far. We don't give up too many shots, but when you do it's nice to know you have a solid goaltender back there.
Head Coach Glen Gulutzan
On momentum from the 5-on-3 penalty kill
I thought they had moments in the game. I thought we had some real good moments, too. I thought it was a great hockey game. The penalty kill helped us. The specialty teams obviously got us, and you can't win without specialty teams in this league.
On Smith's performance thus far this season
He gives us confidence with just his puck play and the saves he is making. Our team has a real sense of security there. Now, we are giving up too many shots. Maybe we are too secure, but at the end of the day it is nice to know he is back there.
