Postgame Quotes
Anaheim Ducks
Ryan Getzlaf
On tonight's performance
Uninspired. I'm pissed off and frustrated and it's really hard to understand that our group is in a playoff race still, after everything, and we can't come out and compete hard around our net.
On what it's going to take to get back on track
We have to play and compete as a five-man unit. At times we got one guy going or two guys going and then the third or the fourth guy isn't there. As a collective group we aren't playing hard enough to compete in this league.
On the importance of the break
Obviously, this break couldn't come at a better time for our group right now. Hopefully we can go away, relax, stop gripping the sticks and understand what it takes to compete in this hockey league.
Cam Fowler
On tonight's performance
One of the worst games I've been a part of and we will leave it at that.
On hitting the reset button
Sometimes the break comes at good times for teams, sometimes not so much. I think it's good for us, I think our guys need to get refreshed mentally and physically. Obviously, everyone knows the bumps and bruises that we've been suffering from, so it gives our guys a chance to get away from hockey for a few days.
Head Coach Randy Carlyle
On the struggles in tonight's game
They seemed to be a step-and-a-half quicker than we were. We scored the first goal, but we were being outshot 8-2 at that point. We just seemed like we were slower than they were. They had more jump and energy, and they owned the puck. We hung our goaltender out to dry.
On the emotional state of the team
Right now, the emotions are running pretty high. I don't want to say anything and get myself in any kind of situation where I say something I shouldn't say. Bottom line is we had a team come in here and outwork our hockey club tonight. We're not going to accept that.
St. Louis Blues
Zach Sanford
On if they felt they controlled most of the game
Yeah, there was a couple stretches where we didn't like our game. Like I said, for the most part we stuck to our game. We were getting pucks past their D [defense] and getting pucks down low, and when we were able to do that, we dominated them.
On his first game back
Yeah, that was good. Our line was playing really well, I thought. Sundy [Oskar Sundqvist] and Patty [Patrick Maroon], we were clicking, playing hard and playing the right way. When you play together and play the right way, you get rewarded.
Patrick Maroon
On having a bounce-back game after losing to LA
Losing that game in LA, our main focus tonight was getting those two points. They are a desperate hockey team over there too, just like us. We are all fighting for that Wild Card spot, moving up in the standings. To have this win going in to the break is huge. Hopefully we can get some momentum off this.
On coming out aggressively and taking it to the Ducks right from the start
Yeah, I thought we did. I thought all four lines were effective tonight. We played really good and sound defensively. We broke out clean and we got opportunities off the rush.
Head Coach Craig Berube
On going into the break ending on a win
It was a real good game. Solid effort for 60 minutes. Guys played really well. We needed a win for sure and we are going into the break on a positive note for sure.
On the play of the first period
The first period is really important. Coming in here and just setting the tone, I thought we did that.
On Sanford's performance
That line is really good. I thought they were solid all night and he had a heck of a game for sure but the whole line was really good.
