Postgame Quotes
Anaheim Ducks
Ondrej Kase
On what it meant to record his first career hat trick
It was amazing. I'm so happy. It's the first one. It was a good game for us.
On his third goal tonight
I just closed my eyes and shot the puck. I had room, so I just tried to hit the net.
Ryan Getzlaf
On the team's strong third period
We just established what we wanted to do. We showed glimpses of it throughout the game, but the third period we came out and executed the way we wanted to on our forecheck as well as getting the puck out of our zone.
On what makes Kase a special player
His speed and his ability to put the puck in the net. Kase does a great job getting in on the puck and coming up with it. You can skate all night long, but if you don't come up with pucks, you're just wasting energy. He does a good job of that and finding open space.
Brandon Montour
On erasing the deficit
We're a resilient group. Guys aren't quitting until the game is over. It was nice to see that tonight.
On what makes Kase a special player
He's got such a different skill level with his speed, his hands and his offensive instincts. It's tough for defensemen to challenge. You could see what he's all about. Good for him.
Head Coach Randy Carlyle
On Kase's production
He's been on numerous times for our hockey club, a clutch goal scorer. He's been the energizer bunny. He's that type of player that seems to hound the puck. Now he's getting rewarded for the hard work he's putting in.
On the team's effective forecheck
Once we were able to establish a forecheck, we were effective. We did it in the first period and the third period. We didn't do it in the second period. When we're tenacious and on the puck, we're a hard team to control.
Dallas Stars
Jason Spezza
On becoming a more consistent group
When you have a lead like that, you have to close the game. Obviously, that's what makes this one frustrating. We'll watch it and see, learn from what we did wrong, and back at it tomorrow.
On the Ducks' late push to comeback
Oh, it's to be expected that the home team is going to make a push when you're the road team. You know, you have to just make good decisions with the puck. It's unfortunate we gave up a goal to make it 3-2 at the end of a good penalty kill. We killed the penalty well and then they score again. That definitely shifts the game in their favor. With the lead that we had, we should win the game.
Ben Bishop
On tonight's game
It was a tale of three periods. I think they obviously took it to us in the first. We took it to them in the second. Then, they took it back to us in the third.
On this road trip and moving on
I mean, obviously both did come down to third periods there. Obviously we had a chance in Vegas in the third period and had the lead tonight. You want to be known as winning games when you have the lead after two. Unfortunately, tonight we weren't able to do it. We will watch the tape, obviously we have a game tomorrow. So, not much time to dwell on it and just get ready for San Jose.
Head Coach Jim Montgomery
On the slow start
You know, I actually thought the first five minutes we started well. Then I thought we had a tough time matching Anaheim's speed and their intensity the rest of the 15 minutes of the first.
On juggling the lines
Yeah, you'd like to get to a point where it's more consistent. You've got new bodies coming in. With [Martin] Hanzal coming in, it's trying to find what's the right chemistry to work with him, and also not take away some of the chemistry that was working.
