The Ducks will host a Lunar New Year celebration on Jan. 21 when they faceoff against the Tampa Bay Lightning. The inaugural event will highlight the unique festivities and traditions celebrated by Asian communities in Orange County and around the world. The first 10,000 fans in attendance will receive a commemorative coin giveaway presented by Yaamava' Resort & Casino at San Manuel. A red envelope will hold the limited edition "water tiger" coin to celebrate the Year of the Tiger. Max Jones, Sam Steel, Simon Benoit, and Josh Mahura were all born in the Year of the Tiger, with alumni Paul Kariya and Chris Pronger also sharing a Tiger birth year as well.

The Ducks will also use the evening as an Olympic sendoff for our local Olympic athletes training at Great Park Ice and former Lady Ducks who will be travelling to Beijing next week to compete in the 2022 Winter Olympic Games. U.S. Olympic pairs figure skaters Brandon Frazier and Alexa Knierim, will be in attendance to drop the ceremonial first puck. U.S. Men's Olympic Figure Skater Nathan Chen, U.S. Women's Olympic Figure Skater Mariah Bell and U.S. Olympic Women's Hockey player and former Lady Duck Cayla Barnes will take part with video messages.

Puck Drop Patio will host multiple activities including a wishing wall, where fans can contribute New Year greetings and wishes for 2022. Additionally, traditional lion dances will be performed in the patio and arena throughout the evening. Inside Honda Center, contemporary Asian music and Lunar New Year themed entertainment will help to ring in the Year of the Tiger. Videos of Ducks fans and SCORE participants delivering New Year's greetings and messages of luck for the Ducks in their native language will also be played.
As part of this season's Lunar New Year festivities, the Anaheim Ducks Foundation will highlight the Orange County Asian and Pacific Islander Community Alliance (OCAPICA), a nonprofit organization dedicated to enhancing the health, and social and economic well-being of Asians and Pacific Islanders in Orange County. Fans can show their support for OCAPICA by participating in the evening's online auction featuring Ducks Lunar New Year items. To place a bid, or make a donation to benefit OCAPICA, text DUCKS to 76278.
In addition, the Ducks Foundation will sell Lunar New Year-themed T-shirts featuring original artwork created by a student from the Samueli Academy as part of the Samueli T-shirt design competition. The Samueli Academy is a Public Charter School which offers youth an innovative and student-centered choice for their education.
