The Ducks have acquired Edmonton’s first-round selection in the 2024 NHL Draft and a conditional fifth-round selection in the 2025 NHL Draft in a three-team trade also including Tampa Bay.

Edmonton will receive centers Adam Henrique and Sam Carrick, Anaheim’s seventh-round selection in the 2024 NHL Draft and the reserve rights to goaltender Ty Taylor. Tampa Bay will receive a conditional fourth-round selection in the 2025 NHL Draft from Edmonton.

The following includes details of the full trade:

  • Anaheim trades Adam Henrique (50 percent of contract retained by Anaheim) to Tampa Bay in exchange for the reserve rights to goaltender Ty Taylor.
  • Tampa Bay trades Adam Henrique (50 percent of remaining salary retained by Tampa Bay) to Edmonton for Edmonton’s fourth-round selection in the 2026 NHL Draft. The pick become Edmonton’s fourth-round pick in the 2025 NHL Draft if Edmonton does not win the 2024 NHL Stanley Cup.
  • Anaheim trades Sam Carrick (50 percent of contract retained by Anaheim), the reserve rights to goaltender Ty Taylor and Anaheim’s seventh-round selection in the 2024 NHL Draft to Edmonton for Edmonton’s first-round selection in the 2024 NHL Draft and Edmonton’s fifth-round selection in the 2025 NHL Draft. The fifth-round pick will become Edmonton’s fourth-round pick in the 2025 NHL Draft if Edmonton wins the 2024 NHL Stanley Cup.

“We wish the best of luck to Adam and Sam down the stretch and into the playoff race,” said Ducks General Manager Pat Verbeek. “Both are quality individuals and character players that spent more than seven years with us, and they will serve the Oilers well. For us, this was a situation driven by contract status, and it was our desire to add another high draft pick to our core going forward.”

Entering the 2024 NHL Draft (June 28-29), Anaheim owns nine selections, including two five selections in the first two rounds (two first-round selections and three second-round selections) and seven picks in the first three rounds (also three third-round selections). Over the next two drafts, Anaheim owns 10 selections in the first three rounds (three first-round picks, two second-round picks, five-third round picks).

Henrique, 34 (2/6/90), has scored 257-264=521 points with 284 penalty minutes (PIM) in 890 career NHL games with Anaheim and New Jersey. In 435 career games with the Ducks, the 6-0, 195-pound forward recorded 135-129=264 points, 10th all-time among Ducks leaders in points and ninth in goals. He earned 18-24=42 points with a +3 rating in 60 games with the Ducks this season.

Acquired from New Jersey with Joseph Blandisi and a third-round selection in the 2018 NHL Draft for Sami Vatanen and a conditional draft pick, Nov. 30, 2017, the Brantford, Ontario native won the 2009 and 2010 Memorial Cup with the Windsor Spitfires and a silver medal for Team Canada at the 2010 World Junior Championship.

Carrick, 32 (2/4/92), recorded 26-22=48 points with 304 penalty minutes (PIM) in 224 career games with Anaheim and Toronto. The 6-0, 200-pound forward has scored 8-3=11 points with 90 PIM in 61 games this season.

Acquired from Chicago with Spencer Abbott in exchange for Kenton Helgesen and a seventh-round selection in the 2019 NHL Draft on March 1, 2017, Carrick led San Diego in all-time scoring (86-95=181), goals and games played (222) in his six seasons in the organization. Originally selected by Toronto in the fifth round (144th overall) of the 2010 NHL Draft, the Markham, Ontario native earned 138-171=309 points with a +55 rating and 686 PIM in 471 career AHL games with San Diego, Rockford and Toronto.
