"As the largest high school hockey league in California and one of the fastest-growing leagues in the nation, the Anaheim Ducks High School Hockey League continues to draw interest from both local Southland schools and beyond our state borders," said Vice President of THE RINKS Art Trottier. "In a short amount of time, the ADHSHL has become a destination for local high school hockey players who now have an opportunity to remain at home and continue their development."
Three Varsity games highlight the opening weekend schedule of the 2016-17 ADHSHL season, beginning tomorrow at Anaheim ICE with Palm Springs vs. Servite at 12:30 p.m., Santa Margarita vs. Chino Valley at 2:15 p.m. and Beckman vs. Bishop Amat at 4 p.m.
The ADHSHL recently expanded to six divisions, which includes the Western Prep Hockey League, Varsity Division 1, Varsity Division 2, Varsity Division 3, and Junior Varsity Black and Orange Divisions. More than 1,100 high school athletes have registered for the 2016-17 season, which will feature weekly games on Fridays and Saturdays at Anaheim ICE and THE RINKS - Lakewood ICE.
The Ducks launched the Anaheim Ducks High School Hockey League on July 1, 2008 with JSerra Catholic High School (San Juan Capistrano) as its charter member. Santa Margarita Catholic High (Santa Margarita) was added in 2009 and joined by Servite High (Anaheim), Damien High (La Verne) and Lutheran High School of Orange County (Orange) in 2010-11. Since 2011-12, the ADHSHL has added 43 teams from three different states and two different Canadian provinces.
