Here are 10 takeaways from the game:
1. Brian Boyle hit a milestone against the Predators. Boyle suited up in his 700th career NHL game, just days after hearing from his doctors that his cancer is in remission. Oddly enough, Boyle started his career at The Rock - just in a different uniform. Boyles first game was on February 2, 2008 when the L.A. Kings visited the Devils. Fast forward 700 games, against the Predators, Boyle played 14:30 and registered one shot on goal.
2. Thursday's matchup marked defenseman Eric Gryba's first game with the Devils. Gryba was paired with Will Butcher, after both Steven Santini and Ben Lovejoy were placed on the injured reserve list over the last few days. The 6'4 defenseman played 13:37, blocked four shots and delivered one hit.
3. Defenseman Damon Severson opened the scoring just 2:58 after the opening puck drop. Severson used a blast from the point to get the puck cleanly by Nashville netminder Juuse Saros. Severson, who scored for a second straight game, leads defensemen on the Devils roster in goals with two this season. Taylor Hall and Kyle Palmieri earned the assists.

4. After Nashville evened the score at 14:40 of the first period, Nico Hischier was determined to get out of the first period with the lead. On the power play, Hischier deflected a Hall shot from the left circle to beat Saros and take a 2-1 lead with just 1:59 left to play in the first.

5. Hischier's power play goal assured the Devils continue their streak of success with the man-advantage. The Devils have scored at least one power play goal in every game this season, including two against Colorado and Philadelphia. Entering the game against Nashville, New Jersey's power play was clicking at 28.6% efficiency.
6. Hall has quietly gone about his business this season, picking up points in six straight games. Hall finished the night against the Predators with two assists, both coming in the opening 20 minutes of the game. Hall has ten points (1G,9A) in the past six games.
7. Hischier seems to have found his scoring touch. He picked up his second goal of the game, another deflection in front of the net at 13:46 of the second period. Hischier deflected a Palmieri shot to give the Devils a 3-2 lead, only 40 seconds after the Predators had evened the game at two.

Sami Vatanen earned the secondary assist on the goal for his fourth point of the season.
8. Miles Wood had a career night. While he didn't factor in on the scoreboard, Wood accounted for seven of the Devils 35 shots on net through 60 minutes. Wood's tied career-high in a game was seven shots on goal, on November 12, 2017 against Chicago. Wood recorded a hattrick in that game.
9. The Devils are used to watching Kyle Palmieri score goals, but on Thursday night it was all about the assists for the top line winger. Palmieri assisted on the Devils opening three goals against Nashville. He brings his point total to 11 through seven games.
10. The Devils top line of Hall, Hischier and Palmieri is considered the top line for a very good reason. They make things happen on the ice. After 40 minutes of play against the Predators, the trio combined for seven points.
