Today was the deadline for NHL teams to tender qualifying offers to its restricted free agents. A qualifying offer is a one-year contract offer of equal or greater value to what the player was making the year prior. The player doesn't need to accept the offer but by making the offer, the Devils retain the rights to the player.
Six players were given qualifying offers:
Forwards: Brandon Baddock and Pavel Zacha; Defensemen: Will Butcher, Connor Carrick, Josh Jacobs and Mirco Mueller.
The club did not tender a qualifying offer to the following three players:
Goaltender: Cam Johnson; Defenseman: Ryan Murphy; Forward: Stefan Noesen
The above three players will now become unrestricted free agents as of July 1.
