Canadiens' new ECHL affiliate will hit the ice in October

TROIS-RIVIÈRES - The Canadiens' new ECHL affiliate has a name: the Trois-Rivières Lions.

The expansion club unveiled its nickname and logo on Thursday, paying homage to the city's roots with a fleur-de-lis inspired mark, and a nod to the former Lions franchise that represented Trifluvians from 1955 to 1959.

Announced as the Habs' official ECHL affiliate in January
to expand the team's development pipeline in Quebec, the Lions will open their inaugural season at the brand new Colisée de Trois-Rivières on Oct. 21.
