BROSSARD - Montreal Canadiens general manager Kent Hughes announced on Wednesday that the team has agreed to terms on a three-year, entry-level contract with defenseman David Reinbacher (2023-24 to 2025-26).

Reinbacher, 18, tallied 22 points (3 goals, 19 assists) in 46 games last season with Kloten HC in the Swiss National League before adding a goal and an assist in three playoff games. The 6-foot-2, 195-pound defenseman also represented Austria at the 2022 and 2023 IIHF World Junior Championships.

The Hohenems, AUT native was selected fifth overall by the Canadiens in the 2023 NHL Draft, becoming the highest selected Austrian-born defenseman in NHL history. Reinbacher participated in the Canadiens development camp held at the Bell Sports Complex in Brossard from July 1-4.
