TORONTO -- Shea Weber and Marc Bergevin spoke to the media via Zoom on Thursday after Bergevin's announcement that head coach Claude Julien had been hospitalized after experiencing chest pains during the night.

Bergevin's full statement can be found HERE.

Bergevin on Julien's status:

"He's in good hands at the hospital here in Toronto. I had a call very early this morning with [Canadiens team doctor] Dr. David Mulder, and obviously I wasn't able to get back to sleep after that. I spoke to Paul Wilson and Geoff Molson right away. Obviously we're worried, but it's reassuring to know that he's in the hospital and in great hands. I spoke to him briefly this morning as well and we're hoping for the best for him."

Bergevin on the assistant coaches leading by committee in Julien's absence:

"Claude is someone who works very closely with his assistants. With our series against Pittsburgh and again yesterday [against the Flyers], I really believe this team is prepared. We'll obviously miss Claude, but we have three coaches with have head coaching experience. Kirk [Muller] in Carolina, Luke [Richardson] in Binghamton, and Dom [Ducharme] at the World Juniors. We have experienced people who will work together and I honestly think they're ready and I'm looking forward to the game tomorrow at 3:00 p.m."

Weber on the team's reaction to the news:

"We found out this morning. I saw Marc at breakfast and he told me what happened and it trickled through the guys at breakfast and on the bus and then Marc had a meeting with us when we arrived at the practice rink."

Weber and Bergevin on Claude Julien's health

"I think in these situations there's always a little bit of an emotional factor and, like Marc said, a shock factor. Everybody learned about this this morning and the biggest concern is obviously his health. We want to make sure he's healthy first."
