BOSTON -- The Canadiens are facing more adversity heading into their matchup with the Bruins at TD Garden.

Goaltender Jake Allen was forced to leave last night's game in Detroit late in the first period after a scary collision with Red Wings captain Dylan Larkin.
According to head coach Dominique Ducharme, Allen underwent testing under the League's concussion protocol and things grew more concerning as the evaluation continued.
During his pregame press conference, Ducharme confirmed that Allen is day-to-day and still being evaluated.
Goaltender Sam Montembeault will make his third start of the season tonight. He will be backed up by Cayden Primeau, who was recalled from the AHL's Laval Rocket.
Ducharme also confirmed that forward Mike Hoffman (upper-body injury) won't play, so Adam Brooks draws back into the lineup.
The Habs were ultimately dealt a 3-2 overtime loss by the Red Wings at Little Caesars Arena.
Monteambeault came on in relief when the NHL's concussion spotter removed Allen from the contest.
He surrendered three goals on 25 shots.

MTL Recap: Poehling nets goal in 3-2 overtime loss

Larkin, who scored twice, netted the game-winner at the 1:41 mark of the extra frame.
Center Ryan Poehling and defenseman Chris Wideman scored for Montreal.
Wideman's game-tying tally early in the third period was particularly special because of winger Artturi Lehkonen's outstanding effort to get him the puck from behind the goal line.

This is the first of four games between the Canadiens and Bruins this season.
Bruce Cassidy's contingent posted a 5-2 victory over the Devils on Saturday in New Jersey.
Brad Marchand led the way with his seventh and eighth goals of the year for the visitors, while goaltender Jeremy Swayman made 27 saves.
Marchand boasts a team-leading 18 points (8 goals, 10 assists) in 12 games.
The 33-year-old winger is riding a six-game point streak with 11 points (4 goals, 7 assists) during that span.
Captain Patrice Bergeron (13 points) and sniper David Pastrnak (12 points) rank second and third in Bruins scoring, respectively.
Bergeron is in the midst of a five-game point streak, while Pastrnak has points in four straight.
TD Garden is always a difficult place to play as evidenced by Boston's 5-1-0 record on home ice.
