As the Habs get set to visit the Golden Knights on Saturday for the first time, it turns out Vegas is not such uncharted territory for Montreal after all. Here's a look at five Montreal-Vegas connections which existed long before the NHL's newest club made its debut in 2017.

1.
Quebec-born pop singer Celine Dion has always held deep ties to Montreal, but she became a permanent fixture on the city's St-Laurent strip as part-owner of the famed Schwartz's Deli in 2012.
Dion has also been a permanent fixture on the famous Las Vegas strip, holding two residencies at The Colosseum at Caesars Palace between 2003 and 2007, and 2011 and 2019, setting records for the highest-grossing concert residency of all time.
2.
CFL quarterback Anthony Calvillo solidified his status as one of the Canadian League's legends in Montreal, during a decorated 16-year career in the city which included three Grey Cup wins.
Before becoming pro football's all-time leading passer, however, Calvillo made his humble beginnings with the CFL's now defunct Las Vegas Posse in 1994. The Posse played their home games at Sam Boyd Stadium in the Las Vegas Valley.
3.
Montreal mixed martial artist Georges St-Pierre is undefeated in title fights in his hometown, having won each of his four bouts at the Bell Centre during UFC 83, 124, 154, and 158.
The three-time UFC Welterweight Champion and formal Middleweight Champion is also undefeated in title fights in Vegas, winning UFC 94 and 167 at the MGM Grand, and UFC 79 and 100 at the Mandalay Bay Events Center. Heading into Saturday's game, the Golden Knights are one of only four NHL team the Habs are undefeated against in their 100-plus year history.
4.
Headquartered in Montreal, the Cirque du Soleil is one of Quebec's most famous exports, having performed in over 271 cities on every continent except Antarctica -- including yearly shows at the Habs' home arena.
While the Canadiens visit T-Mobile arena for the first time on Saturday, the Montreal circus troupe meanwhile has already played at the home of the Golden Knights, having presented TORUK in the new building in January 2017. The Cirque du Soleil has also been a permanent fixture on the Las Vegas strip since 1993, performing a variety of shows year-round.
5.
In the first half of the 20th Century, Montreal earned a moniker as the Sin City of the North thanks to its neon-soaked downtown, and former red-light district which now houses today's Quartier des Spectacles.
More than 42 million people flocked to the Nevada-based original Sin City in 2017, making it the fourth-most visited U.S. city last year. With an average gaming budget of $619 per visitor (among gamblers), we suggest rolling the dice on the visitors when the Habs hit the ice in Vegas for the first time in team history on Saturday.
