GANDER - The Canadiens are still looking for their first preseason win following a 4-3 loss to the Ottawa Senators in Gander, Newfoundland.

The game was played in neutral territory as the teams take part in the Kraft Hockeyville celebrations in eastern Canada.
Earlier in the day, the team was greeted by adoring fans prior to their morning skate.

Fans showed off their bleu-blanc-rouge paraphernalia with pride.

Some even skipped school to meet their idols.

Brendan Gallagher sure made this young fan's day.

The guys returned to Steele Community Center later in the day dressed in their finest attire.

The Senators got on the board early in the game, courtesy of Drake Batherson.
Later in the opening frame, Batherson earned his second point of the night with a secondary assist on Brady Tkachuk's goal, bringing Ottawa's lead to 2-0.
Less than four minutes later, Kaiden Guhle cut into Ottawa's lead with a wrist shot from the point, beating goaltender Anton Forsberg glove side.

The Canadiens retreated to the locker room down by one goal after 20 minutes of play.
Martin St-Louis' contingent tied the game in the second period with a power play goal at 5:13. Kirby Dach was fed a crisp pass from Brendan Gallagher to even the score.

Ottawa then regained the lead when Tim Stützle scored on a penalty shot.
The Canadiens were still down by one goal after 40 minutes.
The Senators cushioned their lead with a goal from Claude Giroux in the third period.
Near the halfway mark, Josh Anderson surprised Forsberg to make it 4-3. David Savard and Juraj Slafkovsky assisted on the goal.

Unfortunately, the Canadiens couldn't complete the comeback.
A friendly shootout took place after the game for fans to enjoy.
The team will look to wrap up their exhibition schedule on a high note when they face the Senators in Bouctouche, New Brunswick, as part of the Kraft Hockeyville tour.
