MONTREAL -- Josh Anderson was named an alternate captain for Canada's National Men's Team at the IIHF World Championship in Tampere and Helsinki, Finland on Thursday.

The squad will be captained by Thomas Chabot (Ottawa Senators), while Anderson's fellow alternates include Pierre-Luc Dubois (Winnipeg Jets), Adam Lowry (Winnipeg Jets) and Damon Severson (New Jersey Devils).
"Josh, Pierre-Luc, Adam and Damon are great leaders and players, and I look forward to serving on the leadership group with them," said Chabot. "Our entire team is excited to play for Canada, and we will represent the country with pride as we look to defend last year's gold medal."

Canada kicks off the tournament on Friday, May 13 against Germany at 1:20 p.m. ET/10:20 a.m. PT.
It will also take on Italy, Slovakia, Kazakhstan, Switzerland, Denmark and France in the preliminary round.
