Joe Morrow

BOSTON - Claude Julien isn't the only one enjoying his Boston homecoming on Wednesday. Like Julien, Joe Morrow will be making his first career appearance at TD Garden since leaving Beantown.

Morrow still doesn't know if he'll be in uniform against his former team on Wednesday night, but simply returning to his former hockey home brings back plenty of memories for the 25-year-old defenseman.
"I was here for such a long period of time and it played such a key part in my life and in my hockey career, just kind of getting a start in the National Hockey League, that it'll always hold a special place in my heart," Morrow explained during an interview at one of his favorite Boston restaurants on Tuesday evening. "When you spend so much time in one city, you're always going to become familiar with things. Certain songs will make you think of things, or certain little monuments, or restaurants. They bring back feelings and emotions."

Morrow - Boston

Morrow began his career with the Bruins during the 2014-15 campaign. Over the next three seasons, he played 65 games in the NHL, splitting his time between Boston and the Bruins' AHL affiliate in Providence, located about an hour south of the city.
Even if he didn't ply his trade on a full-time basis with the big club, Morrow was still very much appreciated by the Bruins' faithful in the city itself.
"I was such a huge fan of how I got treated in this city outside of the rink. It was amazing, just to have that love and support. I've only been in Montreal for a couple of months, and it's already pretty close to par. It's an amazing city, just how Montreal is. They respect you and they just have such passion for their teams and show their support all the time. There's definitely a little flood of emotions and a lot of feelings being brought back," mentioned Morrow.
When Morrow walked around Boston as a member of the Bruins - whether he was in the lineup of not - he was often stopped by fans offering words of encouragement or asking for autographs and selfies.
Now that he isn't a member of the Bruins, though, things have changed… Morrow was even playfully chirped during his interview for HabsTV.
"I don't have a word to describe it [being on the other side of Canadiens-Bruins rivalry now]. It'll be very interesting. I didn't play in the last game when we played each other, but just seeing the guys in warmup and playing with a new group of guys, a new family I have over here in Montreal, it's a very interesting feeling. To step on the ice with an opposing team is going to be very weird," he said.

Morrow was still in Boston when the New England Patriots won the Super Bowl and he noticed that fans were just as enthusiastic during the Bruins' most recent playoff run. That's what he remembers most about his time in the area.
"It was something I'll never forget. Hopefully, I have a long career and hopefully I get to experience those things a lot more," he concluded.
