Jake Evans

MONTREAL - The Montreal Canadiens announced that forward Jake Evans underwent surgery on Wednesday to repair a sports hernia (abdominal wall muscle tear). His recovery period is expected to be 12 weeks.

The procedure was performed by Dr. David Mulder, at the Montreal General Hospital. Evans, 21, agreed to a two-year entry-level contract with the Canadiens on April 9. Selected in the 7th round, 207th overall by the Canadiens in 2014, he completed his four-year NCAA career this season with the University of Notre Dame, falling in the Frozen Four national title game to the University of Minnesota-Duluth Bulldogs.
