Gallagher Galchenyuk Markov

TORONTO - The Canadiens provided updates on the status of Brendan Gallagher, Alex Galchenyuk and Andrei Markov on Thursday afternoon.

After being struck in the hand by a Shea Weber shot during Wednesday night's game against the Stars in Dallas, Brendan Gallagher returned to Montreal for further examination. His condition will be re-evaluated by team medical staff. Prior to sustaining the injury, he'd registered six goals and 18 points in 39 games so far this season.
While Gallagher headed back to Montreal, Alex Galchenyuk and Andrei Markov will both make their way to Toronto. They'll practice with the rest of their teammates on Friday afternoon at the MasterCard Centre in Etobicoke.
Absent since leaving the game against the Los Angeles Kings on December 4, Galchenyuk was the Canadiens' top point-getter with 23 points in 25 games when he went down with a knee injury. He was scheduled to miss six to eight weeks of action.
Markov, meanwhile, has missed the last eight games after being injured on December 17 against the Washington Capitals. The 38-year-old defenseman has two goals and 21 points in 31 games during the 2016-17 campaign
