Deslauriers

MONTREAL - When he returned to Quebec, Nicolas Deslauriers visited his fair share of homes, but none of them spoke to him like the one he came across in the municipality of Saint-Ignace-de-Loyola.

Saint-Ignace-de-Loyola is located in the heart of the islands comprising the Lac Saint-Pierre archipelago and is home to approximately 2,000 people. It sits across from Sorel-Tracy and is also reachable via ferry.
Deslauriers really fell in love with the small community.
"When we started looking, we were hoping to find a home located between Gatineau and Quebec City, but when we visited the house there on the Islands, we knew right away that it was the one," explained the LaSalle native. "It's our dream house. We're very proud to call ourselves residents."

To give you a better idea of just how quaint Saint-Ignace really is, there is no grocery store in the area, it only has one gas station and a milk man stops at homes daily.
Everybody knows one another in the area and people are proud to say that a Canadiens player lives there, too.
"You really see what a small community is all about. People help each other out. I love how quiet it is," stressed Deslauriers. "People are happy. It gets me out of the city. It's calm. I also really like the donuts from the Délices d'Antan bakery."
New passions
The 27-year-old forward, who is coming off a career year with 14 points, including 10 goals, in 58 games, has also discovered a passion for the country life.
"I wasn't a boat guy before, but now I've got one. I even go fishing on Lac Saint-Pierre," explained Deslauriers. "I realized that deep down I have a country side that wants to get on the boat and fish. I never had the chance to do those types of activities because I'd never lived in a place like that."

Deslauriers and his wife, Joanie, are expecting their third child in November, a baby girl, who will soon join four-year-old Madison Rose and two-year-old Jaxon.
