MONTREAL - It is with great sadness that the Montreal Canadiens organization learned of the passing of distinguished journalist Yvon Pedneault who had been a part of the Club's history as a writer and analyst.

Pedneault had been a part of the sports media landscape in Quebec for more than half a century.

A devoted sportsman, Pedneault brought a compelling mix of passion and professionalism to his work. His contagious energy and authenticity will be missed by all who had the chance to know him.

Pedneault had a remarkable career both behind the microphone and at his typewriter when he began his career back in 1965 with Progrès-Dimanche in his native Saguenay. His career took him to Montreal where he would write a column for three daily newspapers in addition to being an analyst on numerous sports shows at TQS, TVS, RDS and more recently at TVA Sports. Assigned to cover the Canadiens from 1969 to 1979, he followed the team for their seven Stanley Cup championships during that time. Known for his tireless work ethic, he was honored by the Hockey Hall of Fame with the Elmer Ferguson Lifetime Achievement Award in 1998.

The Canadiens wish to extend our sincere condolences to Pedneault's family and loved ones during this difficult time.
