MONTREAL - Montreal Canadiens general manager Kent Hughes announced today that the team has acquired a 2024 5th-round pick and defenseman Tony Sund from the San Jose Sharks, after retaining 50% of forward Nick Bonino's salary in the trade that saw him move to the Pittsburgh Penguins.

Sund is a 27-year-old defenseman who recorded nine points (1 goal, 8 assists) in 40 games in the SHL in 2022-23.
