Kyrou impresses at World Junior Summer Showcase

ST. LOUIS - At Prospect Camp in late June, Blues Director of Player Development Tim Taylor said he expected Jordan Kyrou - the Blues' second-round pick in 2016 - to have a chance to play for Team Canada on the international level soon.
Last week, Kyrou was one of 42 top junior hockey players at the World Junior Summer Showcase in Michigan. The tournament allows team managers to get a first look at potential players as they prepare to build their rosters for the 2018 IIHF World Junior Championship.
The thing is, Kyrou didn't just show up to play - he practically stole the show.

The 6-foot, 177-pound forward finished as one of the showcase's top scorers, registering four goals and an assist in three games played.

In a 7-4 victory over Team Sweden on Friday, Kyrou delivered a two-goal performance and added an assist. In Saturday's Team Canada vs. Team USA finale, Kyrou scored again.
The Blues selected Kyrou with a second-round pick (No. 35 overall) at the 2016 NHL Draft in Buffalo - a pick they acquired from the Calgary Flames in exchange for goalie Brian Elliott. Last season, Kyrou led the OHL's Sarnia Sting with 94 points (30 goals and 64 assists).
"He's got really good habits," Canada coach Dominick Ducharme told NHL.com. "He's doing little things that provoke turnovers. He's got the speed and the skills to be making the most of them."

The showcase also featured Blues' 2017 first-round pick Robert Thomas, who had a goal and an assist in three games, and 2016 fourth-round pick Tanner Kaspick.
Brady Tkachuk, the son of former Blue Keith Tkachuk, scored five points (one goal and four assists) in five games for Team USA.
