Blackhawks host "Hockey is for Everyone" Night

The Chicago Blackhawks will host "Hockey Is For Everyone" night at the United Center on Saturday, Feb. 18, when the team plays the Edmonton Oilers. In support of "Hockey Is For Everyone," Blackhawks players will use Pride Tape on their sticks during warm-ups. Select player sticks will be auctioned online at auctions.nhl.com/hockeyisforeveryone from Monday, Feb. 20, through Monday, Feb. 27, with proceeds benefitting the You Can Play Project.
Hockey Is For Everyone, You Can Play Project, Chicago Gay Hockey Association, Center on Halsted and Hockey On Your Block will be located throughout the United Center concourse during the game. A portion of the Blackhawks silent auction and Split the Pot proceeds will benefit the organizations tabling on the concourse. Representatives from You Can Play Project and Hockey On Your Block will also participate in Shoot the Puck.

The Blackhawks and Stanley Cup Champion Ben Eager will also host a floor hockey clinic at the Center on Halsted on Wednesday, Feb. 15. The Center on Halsted is the Midwest's most comprehensive community center dedicated to advancing community and securing the health and well-being of the Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual, Transgender and Queer (LGBTQ) people of Chicagoland. More than 1,000 community members visit the Center every day, located in the heart of Chicago's Lakeview Neighborhood.
On Thursday, March 2, the Blackhawks will host a private screening of "Soul on Ice: Past, Present, and Future" for Hockey On Your Block students at the Harper Theatre in Hyde Park. Following the screening, Blackhawks Community Liaison Jamal Mayers and film creator Kwame Damon Mason will host an open discussion for the students. The film, which debuted last year, tells the stories of the contributions of black hockey players throughout history.
In support of their longstanding commitment to diversity and inclusion in hockey, the National Hockey League, the League's Member Clubs and the National Hockey League Players' Association (NHLPA) will spotlight a variety of community-related initiatives for Hockey Is For Everyone™ month. Every day throughout February, Hockey Is For Everyone activities will focus awareness on such areas as LGBTQ; ethnicity and gender equality; socio-economic status and those with disabilities. The campaign is conducted in partnership with the You Can Play Project - a nonprofit committed to supporting the LGBTQ community and fighting homophobia in sports. The campaign marks the first time the Players' Association, the League and its Clubs have collaborated to encourage teamwork, inclusiveness and diversity in hockey at all levels daily for an entire calendar month.
