The Blackhawks have their first winning streak of the season, taking a 3-2 shootout victory over the Pittsburgh Penguins at the United Center on Tuesday night.
A pair of first goals as a Blackhawk led the way early as Jujhar Khaira and Seth Jones found the back of the net in regulation before Alex DeBrincat netted the deciding shot in extra time, this time with a shootout-clinching attempt in the third round of the skills competition. Marc-Andre Fleury made a season-high 42 saves on the night and stopped both Pittsburgh chances in the shootout.

After holding an opponent off the scoresheet in the opening frame for the second straight game (and fourth time all year) the Blackhawks struck first early in the second for a 1-0 lead. Off an offensive-zone faceoff win by Jonathan Toews, the captain took a pass from Dominik Kubalik, circled the net and found a wide-open Jujhar Kharia at the back post for the winger's his first as a Blackhawk.

2nd - 15:53 - Seth Jones (Patrick Kane, Alex DeBrincat)

Chicago doubled the lead later in the frame with another first as a Blackhawk when Seth Jones went bar down for his first tally of the season. Jones walked across the blue line from the left side of the point, played give-and-go with Patrick Kane along the way, and then walked in from the right side, ripping a wrister from the top of the circle off the iron and in through a Kirby Dach screen for a 2-0 advantage.

The visitors got on the board in the third period as Jeff Carter redirected a Jake Guentzel shot between the legs of Marc-Andre Fleury from the slot to halve the Blackhawks lead to 2-1.

Pittsburgh tied the game with under 5 minutes to play on the heels of a Mike Hardman breakaway chance turned aside by Tristan Jarry. The Penguins quickly turned back up ice as Bryan Rust moved it up Jake Guentzel, who then found Jeff Carter in behind the Blackhawks defense for the second time on the night to make it a 2-2 affair.

For the second straight game, 60 minutes was not enough to decide a winner and after a thrilling 3-on-3 overtime, the game went to a shootout, Chicago's first of the season. Alex DeBrincat played extra session hero for the second straight game, netting the clinching shootout goal for a 3-2 win.
