With three young children running around his Chicago home, Blackhawks defenseman Brent Seabrook has plenty to do during the pause in the NHL season.

"We're spending lots of time with the kids just having fun enjoying things," Seabrook said during Wednesday's broadcast of "Be Chicago: Together We Can" on NBC Sports Chicago. "It's been a little different but everybody in the Seabrook house is doing well."

That includes Seabrook, who is continuing his recovery from shoulder and hip surgeries the 35-year-old underwent after prematurely ending his 2019-20 season.

"I'm feeling great - I'm feeling really good," Seabrook said. "Things are moving in a good direction."

Seabrook on recovery progress

Seabrook, who had procedures on his right shoulder in December, left hip in January and right hip Feb. 6, said he met with Blackhawks team doctor Michael Terry last week and is looking forward to getting on the ice - or pavement - soon.

"I'm still hopeful I can get on the ice or even roller blade now (with) the new world we live in (and) the rinks not being open," Seabrook said. "I think I've been progressing pretty good and I'm just looking forward to getting back with the team and being able to skate as I'm sure everybody is."

Seabrook is sporting a majestic beard that has surpassed even those he sported during the Blackhawks' runs to the Stanley Cup in 2010, '13 and '15.

"It started out as a rehab beard and now it's a Coronavirus beard," Seabrook said while stroking his chin.
