SCOUTING THE KRAKEN

Seattle is young and filled with top draft picks. Top draftees Matty Beniers (2nd overall, 2021 NHL Draft) and Shane Wright (4th overall, 2022 NHL Draft) have not shied away from NHL action. Beniers is off to a hot start and is tied for the rookie lead in scoring with four points (1G, 3A). Wright tallied his first career assist and point last game against the St. Louis Blues.
The Kraken roster also features a few recognizable names to Avalanche fans. Former Av and member of the 2022 Stanley Cup roster Andre Burakovsky leads Seattle with five points (2G, 3A).
Goaltender Philipp Grubauer could potentially get the nod in net against his former team, marking the seventh time (3-2-0) in his 11-year career that he would face the Avalanche. Grubauer spent three years in Denver (2018-21), playing in 113 games and posting a 66-30-10 record.

LINEUP UPDATES

Head coach Jared Bednar announced Avalanche captain Gabriel Landeskog is expected to miss 12 weeks after undergoing arthroscopic knee surgery Tuesday. Veteran center Darren Helm remains sidelined after undergoing off-season surgery.
Recently, Colorado claimed forward Dryden Hunt from the New York Rangers on Thursday from the waiver wire.

QUOTES THAT LEFT A MARK

"It shows a lot of character being able to get yourself back into a game like that, but at the end of the day, we didn't get the two points we wanted. There's always things to improve on. Right now, there is a lot of things, so we'll just keep going." -Bowen Byram on Avalanche's resiliency
