Dewar Honored at Manitoba Legislative Building

WINNIPEG, MB. -- On May 30, 2023, Minnesota Wild forward Connor Dewar was honored at the Manitoba Legislative Building for his efforts in supporting the Indigenous community on and off the ice. Dewar, 23, is from the Pas, Manitoba, and is a proud member of a Red River Métis family.

"He has been an outspoken member of the Métis community, giving back in numerous ways, being a vocal advocate for Indigenous kids in sports, and serving as a positive example for all young people," said Member of the Legislative Assembly Amanda Lathlin

. "His dedication to the sport and his commitment to making a difference in the lives of others are truly inspiring."

Having been drafted in the third round of the 2018 NHL Entry Draft by Minnesota, Dewar has played in 116 career games and has tallied 24 points (8-16=24), including seven playoff games, in two seasons with the Wild (2021-23). "His speed, skill, and tenacity on the ice have made him a fan favorite and a valuable member of the team. He has also become a role model for young hockey players in Manitoba, inspiring them to pursue their dreams and work hard to achieve their goals," Lathlin added of the forward.

"It was a cool opportunity to go there, sit in the gallery and be honored, recognized for being from the Pas and being an Indigenous hockey player," said the center. "Kids from up north can see what I've done ... hopefully that puts the belief in them that you can do whatever you want no matter where you're from."
