It's another home game for the Sharks tonight as they host the Vancouver Canucks in yet another divisional matchup. Tonight also marks Hockey Is For Everyone Night presented by Pizza Factory, which celebrates inclusion in the sport.
The Sharks are coming off a mildly disappointing 2-1 loss to the Arizona Coyotes. Mikkel Boedker provided the only goal of the game, though the team managed to put up 41 shots on goal in the effort. The biggest news of the game, however, was the injury to Tomas Hertl, who left after being run into the boards in the first period.
Though initially feared to be somewhat serious, Sharks head coach Peter DeBoer only termed Hertl as "doubtful" for tonight at yesterday's practice. "I don't think at this point it's as serious as it possibly could have been," he said to the media.
Other news was Brent Burns's temporary move to forward for a few shifts as the Sharks looked for some offense in the third period. DeBoer reaffirmed that the Norris-winner will remain a defenseman, but may take shifts up front depending on need due to the injury situation.
The Sharks and Canucks have already met three times this season, with the Sharks prevailing two of the three for a 2-0-1 record. Both games played at SAP Center thus far have seen the Sharks score five goals; the lone blemish on the Sharks' record was a 4-3 overtime loss in Vancouver.

Coach DeBoer spoke with the media after skate and announced that Tomas Hertl was out for tonight's game. Joel Ward is also considered week-to-week with an upper body injury. With the missing forwards, Brent Burns may get some offensive time as a forward. He was taking rushes as a wing with Joe Pavelski and Timo Meier this morning. Pete notes that Burns as a forward is an option for tonight.
