Welcome to the Gameday Blog, the one-stop shop for San Jose Sharks fans on every gameday. This blog will be updated throughout the day with news, lineup information, videos, and tweets, so be sure to check back as the day goes on.
Continuing their Canada-filled road trip (and, uh, Texas) to bridge 2017 and 2018, the Sharks have traveled from one hockey Mecca to the next and are ready to take on the Toronto Maple Leafs.
The Sharks look to continue the momentum they built from Tuesday's game against the Montreal Canadiens tonight. After suffering their worst loss of the season to the Dallas Stars, the Sharks rebounded and then some in la belle province. Timo Meier scored twice (now three goals in two career games in Montreal), plus goals by Joe Thornton and Marc-Edouard Vlasic led the Sharks to a 4-1 win over the Habs.
Aaron Dell continued his stellar stretch of play on Tuesday, limiting the Canadiens to only one goal for his sixth straight win in games he's started. With the Sharks on an Ontario back-to-back, Dell should be seeing action again either tonight or tomorrow.
The Maple Leafs are currently on a three game losing streak, most recently coming off a 2-0 loss to one of the best teams in the league in the Tampa Bay Lightning. However, they still remain one of the highest scoring teams in the league; they've scored 133 goals to San Jose's 100. Defense will, once again, be key for the Sharks tonight.
It'd be remiss not to mention the biggest storyline that now arises whenever the Sharks and Leafs face off: for the second time ever, the Sharks will face former Shark Patrick Marleau. While in no way as emotional as Marleau's first visit back to SAP Center, there is a good chance that will remain a top story.
