Amerks Update | Rochester looks to gain ground in playoff hunt

After going 1-1-1 last weekend, the Rochester Americans are ready for another 3-in-3 weekend.
They'll play Laval on Friday at Blue Cross Arena and then hit the road for games in Springfield on Saturday and Providence on Sunday.
Rochester is currently in fifth place in the North Division with 50 points through 47 games. Toronto leads the pack with 73 points, but is 20 points ahead of second-place Syracuse. The Amerks have a game in hand on the Crunch.

Kulich continues to improve

Jiri Kulich, Buffalo's third first-round pick (28th overall) in last summer's draft, has been one of Rochester's most consistent producers of late.
Kulich is currently tied for fourth in team scoring with 27 points (12+15).
"He's 18 years old now. It's just incredibly impressive how he continues gets better every week. He keeps growing his game and his work ethic and it's very impressive," Amerks head coach Seth Appert said.
Over his last 10 games, he's recorded 10 points (5+5) with three multi-point efforts, but it's his defensive game that has Appert's attention.
"His on the puck competitiveness has grown a ton. He stays on the puck more, he goes and hunts the puck," Appert said. "When you're playing U20 hockey or U18 hockey, junior, college or whatever it is and you're that talented, you can get away with not doing those things because usually the puck is going to just come back to you magically.
"Now, at this level and above, it doesn't, so you have to work to get it and then really value it when you have it right. Those are things that he's grown a lot."
