20221210 Murray

The Buffalo Sabres have recalled forward Brett Murray and defenseman Kale Clague from the Rochester Americans, the team announced Saturday. Forward Vinnie Hinostroza and defenseman Henri Jokiharju have been placed on injured reserve.
The Sabres play the Pittsburgh Penguins at PPG Paints Arena at 7 p.m. Don Granato will meet with the media around 5:30.
Murray, 24, is tied for the team lead in Rochester with nine goals and ranks third with 15 points. The 6-foot-5, 228-pound left winger has played 21 games over the past two seasons, tallying six points (2+4).

"He's just worked so hard to redefine his game, to be more physically engaged, to be more of a power forward," Amerks head coach Seth Appert said recently.
"He's really put a ton of time into his skating and his body makeup and now he's skating so well that he's out there for 3-on-3 overtime and he's out during the penalty kill and, I think, it's just growing his confidence in himself as well."

The Sabres have 13 available forwards with the addition of Murray. The NHL Department of Player Safety announced Saturday that Jeff Skinner has been suspended for three games for a cross-check against Pittsburgh's Jake Guentzel on Friday. Hinostroza has missed the last four games with an injury.
Clague, 24, has played seven games for the Sabres this season and tallied one assist while posting a 61.6 shot-attempts percentage. He joins a defense corps missing two right shots in Jokiharju and Ilya Lyubushkin. Jokiharju skated 23:59 against the Penguins on Friday.
