EDMONTON, AB -The Edmonton Oilers organization is saddened by the sudden passing of the Oilers Director of European Scouting Vaclav Burda on Monday, July 16.
Burda, 45, joined the Oilers in 2016-17, after 13 seasons with the Ottawa Senators. The native of Prague, Czech Republic enjoyed a 12-year professional playing career, mostly with Sparta Praha in the Czech Elite League.
"On behalf of the entire Oilers organization, I would like to express our deepest sympathies to Vaclav's family and many friends," said Oilers President of Hockey Operations and General Manager Peter Chiarelli.
"Vaclav was a great colleague and friend who brought energy and passion to everything he did. He will be greatly missed by his many friends with the Oilers and in the hockey community."
